Across North America, self-regulation is being associated with the kinds of “21st century learning skills” that individuals need to develop for success both within and outside of schools. This is why a focus on self-regulation resonates so well with the goals of the renewed BC curriculum. Self-regulation refers to how learners engage adaptively, thoughtfully, and strategically in environments and activities. In this session, you will learn why attending to self-regulation can help us to create inclusive environments that foster all individuals’ development as empowered, strategic learners.
